Minnesota Vikings Cake

Minnesota Vikings Cake (my first client cake!)
This is my first cake for a client. She ordered a Minnesota Vikings cake after seeing the Broncos one.

The cake is vanilla with a vanilla filling. It is iced in deep purple buttercream.

All the decorations were done in buttercream. The cake features a shell crown border with drop strings and stars. The bottom border is large white shells and meduim yellow shells. I got a little creative with that border and I really like the way it came out.

Here it is before I added the wording. Its a great shot of the cake!

Better picture of the border. The client seemed really pleased with her cake. Hooray! (I do pack completed cakes in cake boxes for travel, don't worry!)

that looks great! I found your photo because I am thinking of making a Vikings cake for my boyfriend when he gets home from Iraq. So thank you for the inspiration.

Hey. Okay, so I want to make a Vikings cake for my boyfriend's twenty second surprise birthday party, that I'm throwing him, but I am not very artistic, I'm only seventeen.. How in the world could I do something that is maybe half as good as that?? Haha. I can't draw the Viking logo much less do it with icing. Can you help me out?

I didn't freehand draw it either. Just copy and paste the vikings logo onto a word document, flip it,and make it the size you need. Print it out and tape it to a work surface. Put a piece of parchment paper or wax paper on top. Use decorating gel to trace the image. Press the wax paper gel-side down onto your iced cake. Now all you have to do is fill it in. It will be easiest for you to buy decorating gel to use to fill the image in. (You can buy it in the baking isle at grocery store. More colors available at a craft store.) If you use decorating gel, you'll want to ice your cake with white frosting so you can see it. Good luck!
